Quantitative Data Analysis Portal

The Quant Data Analysis Portal let non-statisticians to easily tabulate research (survey) data. The portal also provides cross-tabulation, comparison, frequency tabulation and filtration features and allows data manipulation in user-friendly manner.

The portal in-built a special section known as ‘who said that’ which allows user to lock a set of respondents and compare them with full set around any other parameter from the dataset. It provides analytical insight into data which are usually hidden and undiscovered by statisticians in routine analysis.

Content Analysis System

The content analysis system is an information management system for storing and analyzing media contents. The system is a unique bespoke application that stores all media contents i.e. Newspaper articles, Radio programs, and TV segments along with the complex set of data about them.

Content analysis is process of collecting structured data from media content. The Content Analysis System allows multiple content analysts to work at the same time and perform complex content analysis of TV, Radio and Newspaper contents. Few salient features of the system are;

  • Capture and store digital contents of TV, Radio and Newspapers
  • Allow content analysts to perform content analysis through a browser
  • Generate tables, pivot tables, time series graphs, bubble charts, bar charts
  • Real time statistics for monitoring of the targets
  • Apply complex filters to extract narrowed down data
  • Dynamic and consistent lists of words, organizations, media sources
  • Extract data in variety of formats for complex statistical analysis

Media Development in Pakistan

Client – Action Resource, Foundation for Open Society Institute of Pakistan

We designed and developed a web-based mapping portal that visualizes media development efforts in Pakistan from 2007 to 2012. The project was sponsored by Foundation for Open Society Institute, Pakistan (FOSIP). The maps contain data that was voluntarily submitted by 15 organizations listed on the website. It is aimed to identify gaps or duplication of efforts in media development domain in Pakistan.

On the left-pan the media development efforts are categorised into themes. By clicking on each theme the corresponding map layer is loaded in the main section. By hovering mouse over a region, a corresponding pie chart appears at the right top to display comparison of the media efforts done in the given region against the whole. This shows interesting trend of over or under focused areas.

Results Monitoring & Reporting System

Client – Rule of Law Program, UNDP Pakistan

We have worked with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Pakistan to design and develop a bespoke web-based results monitoring & reporting system for Strengthening Rule of Law Program (SRLP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A few salient feature of the system are;

  • Manage multiple projects;
  • Create and manage Logical Framework for each project;
  • Manage activities and targets;
  • Assign activities to partner organizations;
  • Receive data against assigned activities;
  • Calculate activity, output and outcome level progress;
  • Perform data analysis;
  • Visualize data on the map (GIS);
  • Generate variety of customized data reports.

The system allows UNDP to create project level outcomes, outputs, and activities and assign yearly targets for the activities. The activities are further assigned to implementing partner, who then provides data against the assigned activities. The dashboard provides quick view of the progress for each output. Each output column in the chart can be clicked to find activity level progress.

The system provide GIS Mapping feature where activities data is plotted on a map. This provides useful insight about the project outreach and identifies gaps. The outcome level progress is easily monitored through the dashboard where all activities are aggregated to show performance. The management easily identifies specific sub-output which is not progressing, and revises strategy for that.

Case Management & Monitoring System

Client – Prosecution Dept. Baluchistan, UNODC

We were contracted by UNODC to design and develop Case Management and Monitoring System (CMMS) for Prosecution Department of Quetta (Baluchistan). The CMMS is a web-based system designed to support prosecution department to effectively manage cases. The system provides dynamic reporting and analysis dashboard to display various statistics i.e. case pendency, submission delay and conviction rate by district, police station, court or case category.

We provided training to the prosecution officers and developing user manuals of the system. We have presented the system at prosecution department of Quetta where it was fully endorsed by the Secretory Prosecution, Secretory Home and IG Police Quetta.

Biometric Electoral System

Client – Awaz Foundation, DAI/DFID

We have successfully deployed a web-based electoral system that enable Awaz Foundation (Multan) – which is recipient of a grant from DFID through DAI under the Enhanced Democratic Accountability and Civic Engagement (EDACE) program – to develop the first ever Biometric Electoral System in Pakistan. This was a unique opportunity to work on this project because general elections in Pakistan has always remained controversial topic in terms of transparency.

We have developed a complete solution that includes; biometric voter registration, candidate’s information, polling module and real-time results and analysis. Under this project, Awaz Foundation registered 120,000 youth (aged 14-30) in 126 Union Councils at Multan. The portal allows Awaz Foundation to have real time results as it happen at various polling stations. The system also helps Awaz Foundation to plan electoral processes and monitor the situation more effectively.

In this project we used a mix of offline and online tools. The offline application is developed in Visual Studio C# that allows Awaz Foundation to undertake voter registration and polling at remote areas where there is no internet connection available. It stores the data offline and sync data with cloud server once an internet connection is available.

The most interesting aspect of this system is the biometric data capture and comparison. The system captures four fingers scan of each voter at the time of registration. On the day of election, the voter is asked to scan his finger at the polling desk before polling vote.

The system eliminates rigging and introduces high degree of transparency and accountability in the electoral system. The system is built using latest data security principles and protocols, and adheres to international standards.

Release Management System

Client – Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (Govt. of Pakistan)

We are contracted by Press Information Department, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of Pakistan to develop web-based centralized release management system to streamline and channelize government sponsored media releases and advertisements.

Govt of Pakistan publish hundreds of advertisements in daily newspapers all across the country. The task is coordinated by Press Information Department which has regional offices in Lahore, Hyderabad, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar. The PID has nearly 800 ministries and government departments on board and have listed hundred of advertising agencies which further link up with more than 2000 newspapers in Pakistan.

PID has reached to a point where day to day advertisement management is beyond the scope of manual coordination and reporting. Crysbit Technologies has been awarded a contract to develop a centralized release management system to connect the regional office and advertising agencies to be able to smoothly perform their day to day activities in most efficient and coordinated manner.
